Confederate Cavalryman Clashes With Union Infantryman

This rifle was found by a Union soldier on the battlefield of Nashville. It was a Belgian rifle that had been modified into a carbine by a Confederate Cavalryman. It belonged to a man in the 4th Tennessee Cavalry. He collided, in close combat, so violently with a Union Infantryman that the soldiers bayonet sliced through the butt of the rifle.
