Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary on Seminary Hill
The Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary is the second oldest in the United States. The dorm which is pictured was built in 1834. During the battle of Gettysburg General Reynolds 1st Corps made it's last stand here before being routed and driven through town. Some of the seminary buildings were burned during the battle and later ransacked by the Confederates. The seminary was used as a field hospital during the battle and the cupola was used as an observation post on June 30th.
