IDENTIFYING THE REAL ENEMY

For years we have mislabeled people. I have been guilty of that, although I am constantly trying to correct myself. It is hard to break old habits. We confuse liberals with leftists on a routine basis. A true liberal is a patriot and loves America. A leftist does not. Liberals want to preserve American sovereignty and a leftist does not. A liberal is not a Communist but leftists are. Liberals value human life and leftists do not. A liberal cherishes the right of free speech but a leftist does not. I could go on and on but I think that you get the picture. The difference between a true liberal and a conservative is that we have shared goals. We have a difference of opinion on how to achieve those goals. For example the liberals of John Kennedy's day believed in tax cuts, the same as conservatives. Liberals, like conservatives knew that tax cuts created revenue. Where they differed was in who got to keep the money. Conservatives wanted the taxpayer to be able to keep their hard earned money and the liberals wanted to spread the money around to the less fortunate. The liberal might even have been willing to compromise with the conservatives and let Americans keep a portion of the tax savings.
Liberals and Conservatives looked at compromise as being good for America. The liberals and conservatives of Kennedy's day wanted a strong military and saw the Soviet Union as a real threat. The few leftists of that day did not recognize the Soviet Union as a threat. Like liberals, conservatives hate racism. We just have a difference of opinion on how to eliminate it. Just because we differ on things like affirmative action doesn't mean that conservatives do not want Black people to progress. I look at affirmative action as patronizing to Blacks. A program that cripples them rather than helps them. As far as hunger and poverty we all want to eliminate these things but conservatives believe that welfare cripples American's and destroys the family structure. We all hate homelessness but conservatives believe that tough love is a better approach to curing the problem. True liberals and conservatives are tired of seeing our children dying in school shootings. We both want it to stop. One side thinks that we need less guns and the other side thinks that we need more guns but in the right hands. In other words shared goals.
There are still a few patriotic liberals around. Allen Dershowitz, Ed Koch, and Joe Lieberman are just a few.. Although George McGovern was far too liberal for me he was an American patriot. McGovern was a very brave man. He flew B-24's in WW2. The problem is that most of the Democrats in leadership positions today are Communists now. I wont pull any punches. They are the worst kind of enemy because they do not have shared goals with most Americans who identify as conservative, liberal, or moderate. They are the enemy that is eroding America from within and it is time that liberals and moderates wake up to the danger. I believe that most conservatives are wide awake now and recognize the danger that all real American's are facing from the left.. I urge my liberal brothers and sisters to wake up before it is too late. There is no doubt in my mind that most of my liberal friends love their country and want the best for it. I was a Democrat and realized in the 1980's that the Democrat Party no longer represented my values. As Reagan once said "I didn't leave the Democrat Party, they left me".
