It appears that America has been given a reprieve. God is not through with America yet. President Trump won 312 electoral votes, the popular vote, and the Republicans are on track to win both houses of Congress. As the president wanted we got election results "too big to rig". The RNC ran a fantastic ground game that deterred cheating and got out the vote. Replacing Mitt Romney's daughter Ronna McDaniel as head of the RNC with Michael Whatley and making Laura Trump co-chair was absolute brilliance on Trump's part. People like Charlie Kirk rallied the youth vote in the battleground states. Scott Presler and Elon Musk worked wonders in Pennsylvania even motivating the Amish to vote. This election is historical. In my 74 years on this earth I have not seen anything like it. Donald Trump has pulled off the greatest political comeback in American history. In addition he is now the second president to win two non consecutive terms in office. Grover Cleveland was the first to do it. He won in 1884 but lost his reelection bid in 1888 to Benjamin Harrison. Cleveland, however; was reelected to office in 1892 after defeating Harrison. After Trump was falsely accused of instigating an insurrection on January 6, 2021 many people were saying that he had committed political suicide. Trump had every Constitutional right to challenge that election. I never once felt that Trump was finished. Anyone else would have been finished but not Donald Trump. This is one reason the Fascists were so afraid of him. He was indestructible and fearless unlike anyone since Ronald Reagan. Although I loved Reagan Trump is almost super human in my view.


  I can't think of a political figure in history that is tougher than this man. He has been through more abuse than anyone and seems to grow emotionally and physically stronger with every crisis he endures. It is almost like he thrives on it and at the age of 78. There are millions of young men who could not survive the abuse he has endured or have his stamina. Most people would turn to mush but trials and persecutions reveal character. In 2016 I liked Trump but I wasn't eager to vote for him. At this point in my life I would follow him through hell and back. He is now a man of proven character and a man who loves his country as much as I do. I must admit that in the primaries I supported Ron Desantis. Not because I didn't like Trump but after seeing what Desantis accomplished in Florida I saw him as the future of the Republican party. He could serve 8 years and Trump could only serve 4. I must admit that I underestimated Trump then because I didn't see the coalition that Trump has put together. He has brought together a group of patriots that love this country. They are of divergent opinions and exceptionally bright people. J.D. Vance can be the long term future of the Republican party at least for eight years after Trump is finished in the same way that I saw Desantis in that role. In addition the party has a very deep bench of new talent to draw from in the future. J.D. Vance is no Mike Pence. Everything that we do from here on out should be designed to not only solve the massive problems created by the Democrat party but to weaken their power to such a degree that we are not staring disaster in the face at every election cycle. Trump can do for America what Ron Desantis did for Florida. Turn it bright red.

Although I was very happy with the way things were going when I went to sleep at 10:30 PM on election night I was not at peace. I remembered going to bed on election night in 2020 with Trump being way ahead but as actor James Woods recently said on Louder With Crowder we woke up on Wednesday morning with Joe Biden leading because they somehow pulled 300,000 votes out of an alligators ass. In retrospect I think that Trump losing that election was the best thing for America. It wasn't a good thing for my son Jon and thousands of Americans who died as a result of Joe Biden's Covid policy. They said that there was no effective treatment for Covid but the clot shot. If they had told the truth about Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin from the start my son and so many others might be alive today. In my view these two drugs alone could have saved the majority of people who died from Covid. Because of government pressure social media censored any information about these drugs. This is a gross violation of the 1st Amendment. Trump tried to recommend the use of Hydroxychloroquine early in the pandemic but the media portrayed him as crazy. Then there are the thousands of Americans who have died because of Biden's open border policy. Countries released criminals from their prisons so they could come to the US and prey on thousands of Americans. They rape, murder and steal. Then there are the thousands of Americans who die at the hand of illegals driving drunk every year. There are the thousands of deaths each year from fentanyl poisoning. All of this is the result of our open borders. Finally we lost 13 brave Americans due to the Biden administrations incompetence withdrawing from Afghanistan. 

Donald trump losing in 2020 was a wake up call for American's. The Fascists overplayed their hand and American's did not like what they saw and experienced. They got a taste of Communism and Fascism and they hated it. If Trump and the Republican's are successful I believe that we can be in power for many years to come. Right now the Democrats are still making the same mistakes and I hope that they don't change their tactics. The leadership of the Democrat party knew that he wasn't Hitler but they were trying to incite someone to kill him. Calling his followers garbage and Nazi's was meant to justify the future persecution of his followers if Harris had won. Their followers who are having meltdowns on social media are narcissists and mentally ill. Anyone who actually believes that Trump is Hitler needs a history lesson on Hitler. Obviously they know nothing about him.Trump was president for four years and never persecuted anyone. He did improve the quality of life for most American's but somehow they believe that if given four more years he will suddenly become Hitler. This election was common sense pitted against insanity and common sense won.

      Great article, Greg! I, too voted for this man as I did in 2000, 2004, 2016 and 2020. I must say that, for me, the thing that always stood out about him was that he was not a "polititian", but a fearless and successful businessman. The government is a business and running it takes a cool head and an understanding of that. Trump possesses both. I don't blindly follow any man, no matter how smart or confident he is. Nothing is sure in this world except God's word and His plan, but I truly believe this man can get this country back on the track of common sense and economic growth. The votes prove I'm not the only one!

CARNTON PLANTATION

   My first association with the Carnton Plantation in Franklin was when I would see the old house while hunting for Civil War relics in the early 1970's. There is a subdivision near Carnton today in the area where I hunted when it was primarily farm land. I knew it was an antebellum home but I wasn't aware of how historic Carnton was. It was in a horrible state of disrepair and I have learned since then that a farmer was using the house as his hay barn. In 1977 the owner of the property donated the house and ten acres to the Carnton Association and they have done a fantastic job of restoring the plantation to it's former glory. Originally the McGavock's owned 1400 acres. It was built by Randall McGavock in the 1820's. He was mayor of Nashville and a close friend of Andrew Jackson and James K. Polk. The James brothers with their mother Zerelda James   Most everyone has heard of the notorious outlaws Jesse and Frank James, however; did you know that they lived in Nashville from 1875 until March 1881? Jesse's oldest son Jesse James Jr. was born in Nashville along with his sister Mary. Jesse Jr. was born at 606 Boscobel Street on August 31, 1875. Mary was born on West Hamilton Road in Bordeaux on July 17, 1879. Jesse Jr. went by the name Tim and as far as he knew his last name was Howard. He and his sister would not know their real last names until after Jesse was killed in 1882. Jesse and his wife Zerelda would also lose two male twins in infancy.  Jesse's brother Frank lived on Clarksville Pike. While living there he and his wife Annie Ralston James gave birth to a son named Robert Franklin on February 6, 1877. For a time he would be dressed as a girl and go by the name of Mary.
