JASMINE CROCKETT - NO RELATION TO DAVY

Jasmine Crockett opened her Texas Senate campaign yesterday in what some Conservatives are calling an odd way. In my view it would be a toss-up between who is the dumbest, AOC or Crockett. Having said that I think the announcement ad for her Senate campaign was brilliant. I don't know who is handling her campaign but I think the ad has the potential to be very effective. In the ad she doesn't say anything. She is just sitting there in her best hair and makeup while Trump's voice is playing in the background. Trump is pretty much belittling her intelligence and character in the harshest terms. I agree with what Trump is saying. In my view she is an attractive woman but she is a moron and not up to being a dog catcher much less a U.S. Senator. Trump's tone, however; does not play well with many women. I have noticed this with conservitive women like my wife and others. They know at election time that Trump, or the Republican on the ballot is their only logical choice to vote for but they complain a lot about Trump's tone. It is not appealing to many if not most women. If that is true for many conservative women I can only imagine how it is playing with moderate women and left wing women. 

Some women love Trump's tone as well as most men. I think it is a man thing mainly and the women who think more like a man. Rush Limbaugh had the same effect on many women. My wife agreed with pretty much everything Rush said but she hated the braggadocio tone that he had. She would beg me to turn the station if we were riding together in the car when his show was on. Limbaugh and Trump have a lot in common. People who knew Rush personally said that the private Rush was the most generous, charming, humble and selfless man around. His public image was vastly different, however. Trump is the same way. Although he was married several times his ex wives are, and were, very supportive and respectful of him and his children adore him. You can fool others but you can't fool your children. Even Ronald Reagan had problems with two of his four children. I could usually tell when Rush was joking and I can usually tell when Trump is joking. Both, were and are master comedians. They make me laugh. Others are triggered by them, however. Even so I also have a problem with Trump's tone sometimes. He can be his own worst enemy. 

So, getting back to Jasmine Crockett. She may have started out on the right foot with her first ad for U.S. Senate but I hope that the Republican party in Texas doesn't underestimate her chances. Hopefully, Texas voters will do the right thing, which I think they will, and vote her Republican opponent into office next November. Some Conservatives are calling her a "Carpet Bagger" because she came from another state. Well our own Davy Crockett travelled to Texas from Tennessee and met a violent end at the Alamo. Hopefully Jasmine Crockett will meet a violent political end next November.

  Allen Platt was like many bigoted Southern white men in 1954. He would say 'My dad always said Blacks had their place,'' This belief was challenged in October 1954. The Lake County Florida Sheriff Willis McCall paid Platt a visit in his  Mount Dora home. There had been complaints about his children. There were many people who believed the family was Black because of their dark skin color and curly hair. McCall was pretty sure that they had ''nigra'' blood, as he called it. The sheriff told him "You don't belong here. You are trying to mix with white people." Platt told him 'I'm as White as you are and come from better stock." Under the law at that time you were accepted into White society if you only had one-sixteenth black blood. If you had one-eighth you were considered Black. NASHVILLE AND JESSE JAMES

The James brothers with their mother Zerelda James   Most everyone has heard of the notorious outlaws Jesse and Frank James, however; did you know that they lived in Nashville from 1875 until March 1881? Jesse's oldest son Jesse James Jr. was born in Nashville along with his sister Mary. Jesse Jr. was born at 606 Boscobel Street on August 31, 1875. Mary was born on West Hamilton Road in Bordeaux on July 17, 1879. Jesse Jr. went by the name Tim and as far as he knew his last name was Howard. He and his sister would not know their real last names until after Jesse was killed in 1882. Jesse and his wife Zerelda would also lose two male twins in infancy.  Jesse's brother Frank lived on Clarksville Pike. While living there he and his wife Annie Ralston James gave birth to a son named Robert Franklin on February 6, 1877. For a time he would be dressed as a girl and go by the name of Mary.
