  After the mosque shooting in New Zealand the government there passed a law banning all military style semi automatic weapons, all high capacity ammunition magazines, and all parts that allow a weapon to be modified into the type of weapon used in the attack. The New York Times in an article praised New Zealand for only taking six days to pass this law. This reinforces the leftist adage to never let a good crisis go to waste. New Zealand is a country that averages 1.07 gun deaths per 100,000 people a year. Their total population in 2017 was 4.795 million people. Prior to the mosque shootings the worst mass shooting in modern New Zealand history occurred in 1990 at a place called Aramoana township. This was the result of a verbal dispute between two neighbors. Fourteen people, including a police officer, died when David Gray, obviously a nut case, went on a killing spree killing his neighbors and innocent bystanders. In 1992 New Zealand passed a tough gun law as a result of this shooting and tightened restrictions on the ownership of military style semi-automatic weapons. Obviously these laws didn't prevent the mosque shooter from obtaining the weapons he used. So the government's twisted logic is to take military style semi automatic weapons away from law abiding citizens who had nothing at all to do with the mosque shooting. On top of this the shooter was Australian. A country that has already banned the ownership of guns. 

 The United States by comparison has 10.6 gun deaths per 100,000 out of a total population nearly 330 million people. Honduras had a population of 9.265 million people in 2017 and has the highest homicide rate in the world. Of the 48,094 murders registered in Honduras between 2008 and 2015, 39,111 were committed using a firearm, according to data from the Violence Observatory at the National Autonomous University of Honduras. This amounts to 60.0 deaths per 100,000 population as opposed to 10.6 in America. If you take away gun violence in the big cities that have Democrat dominated governments such as Chicago, where there is strict gun control, and other large cities like Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Philadelphia just to name a few, America is a pretty safe place when it come to guns. The gun carnage is being caused by criminals and thugs who have relinquished their constitutional right to carry a weapon. The gun control people want law abiding citizens to pay for the sins of these criminals. In my view if you want to bring down America's murder rate end Democrat leadership in the big cities. Create a gun friendly environment for law abiding citizens everywhere. Not only in rural areas but in the urban areas. More guns less crime.

 All over America police are afraid to do their job anymore and after eight years of Obama cities are becoming more and more unsafe. This is due to the constant anti-police rhetoric of the Obama years. Blacks came to believe that white police officers put on their uniform everyday with the intention of killing a black person. A black person has a greater chance of being struck by lightning than being killed by a white police officer. The leading cause of death for young black men is to be murdered by another black man. Young white men are more likely to die in a car accident.  As a security officer I am seeing this reluctance to act by the police firsthand. A few years ago they wouldn't hesitate to arrest someone that was causing trouble. There is a brazenness among the criminal element because they know things have changed. Nashville police officers are leaving their jobs in droves because of low morale. The city is experiencing unbelievable growth and it's police department is shrinking. Gun violence has soared in the last few years in Nashville. At a time that political correctness is creating an unsafe environment for the average citizen the left continues it's relentless push to take away our guns. The key word in gun control is control. The target is not the gun but the American people. Guns are the only thing that protect the people from tyranny. Without a gun when the thief enters your house and binds you up he not only has it in his power to rob you of your liberty but he also has the power to rob you of your life. It is the same when the government becomes the thief. There is no one to appeal to but God.
