A HOUSE DIVIDED

Image
As a student of history I believe that America is at a place today very similar to where we were in 1860. American's are literally ready to fight each over over our political differences. We could be on the threshold of another civil war. I was watching an episode of Dr. Phil where he interviewed a black man who has converted from being a leftist Democrat and a former member of Black Lives Matter into a Trump supporting Conservative. The man talked about how he hasn't spoken to some friends and immediate family since he changed his political views three years ago. His family has disowned him. He has also received death threats but he says that he trusts in God and his Glock. Doctor Phil then interviewed a Democrat white woman who requested that her identity be hidden. She had also received death threats and had been run off the road on several occasions. People have flipped her off because of her bumper stickers. The woman was also stalked by a woman who called her a baby ...

CAREFUL- THEIR LIPS ARE MOVING

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas. Joseph Stalin The press must grow day in and day out - it is our Party's sharpest and most powerful weapon. Joseph Stalin It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes. Joseph Stalin Show me the man and I'll find you the crime. Lavrentiy Beria - Head of Stalin's Secret Police Can you think of quotes more relevant to the situation that we find ourselves in today? PROFILES IN COURAGE

Image
One of the things that impressed me the most about the near assassination of President Trump on Saturday was how the crowd reacted. People were ducking and there were some screams but there was no wholesale panic. This may be partly due to the fact that there were many military veterans in the crowd but I believe much of the crowds composure was also due to the courage of president Trump. He did not panic and his response as the Secret Service was removing him from the stage reminded me of something Andrew Jackson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan would have done under similar circumstances. Regardless of how we might feel about these people today they showed great physical courage when their lives were threatened. This courage inspired people to follow their leadership and courage under fire has a calming influence on people. Fireman Corey Comperatore instinctively shielded his wife and children before suffering a fatal head wound. Then there was 57 year old David "Jake...

Many Hollywood stars served in World War II. Most were unknown when they served and became big stars, or lesser known stars after the war. People like Paul Newman who served in the Navy . He served on the USS Bunker Hill in the Pacific. Lee Marvin, who was a Marine, saw heavy combat in the Pacific. Jack Palance, was a bomber pilot in the Army Air Corps. Charles Bronson, was a gunner on a bomber in the Army-Air Corps. Robert Stack served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. Mel Brooks was in the army and saw heavy combat in Europe, especially at the Battle of the Bulge. Charles Durning who played Governor Pappy ODaniel in Oh Brother Where Art Thou. Durning fought at the Battle Of The Bulge and was one of just a handful of soldiers that managed to escape the Malmedy massacre. Eddie Albert who won the Navy Cross as a Naval officer saving stranded and wounded Marines at Tarawa.  Frank Sutton was Sergeant Carter on Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.
