Reflections of An Uncommon Common Man

I used a famous line from the movie Jerry McGuire to illustrate the fact that from the first time I saw the video of Officer Derek Chauvin with his knee on George Floyd's neck I was horrified like most American's. For a very short sliver of time American's were united in their disgust for what happened to Mr. Floyd. Unless you were a die hard Klansman or Neo Nazi it didn't matter what side of the political aisle you were on. Most American's wanted to see this rogue cop receive the justice he deserves. Yet as always happens, the left can't allow us to be unified on anything. It is not about the death of George Floyd anymore, is it? Even his family seems to sense that. They are calling for an end to the violence. No, the left as they must do, will not let a crisis go to waste. They see Floyd's death as an opportunity, combined with the devastation and chaos already wrought by this stupid pandemic to go for our economic jugular vein. You are witnessing a C...

A friend asked me a while back if the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence was a liberal movement or a Conservative movement. I explained that it was a liberal movement. Not the pseudo liberal movement of today which is the antithesis of the classical liberalism of our Founding Fathers. I googled the definition of classical liberalism. Classical liberalism is a political ideology that values the freedom of individuals — including the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and markets — as well as limited government. The modern liberal movement is leftism or Communism. They value the collective rather than the individual. It is anti- religion, except for the religions of Islam. atheism and secularism. Modern leftists are against free speech. Just try to speak on a modern college campus if you are not a leftist. Leftists are only for freedom of the press when it comes to those news outlets that advance the leftist agenda. The modern leftist movemen...

Whenever an active shooter goes into a school, a restaurant, theater, or business to shoot up the place, killing and wounding many people, there is a collective cringe from those of us in America who are law abiding gun owners. We cringe because we know what is coming. It gives the gun grabbers an excuse to try and chip away at our 2nd Amendment rights by linking people who are in no way to blame for what happened to the crime. We then have to go into a full defensive mode, citing statistics proving that more crimes are prevented by guns than are committed by guns. Or that a gun is what usually puts an end to the carnage, whether it is wielded by a law abiding citizen or a police officer. In the end none of this matters to the left leaning press and those on the left. It provides them with an opportunity that they can't ignore. Remember, never let a crisis go to waste.  The same happens when a low life racist like Dylan Roof goes into a Black church killing people for...

On February 16, 2019 I wrote an article entitled MY UNSCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS- SIX REASONS WHY TRUMP WILL WIN IN 2020. The first sentence of that article begins like this. Barring an unfortunate circumstance, God forbid, such as a health problem or being assassinated Trump wins in a landslide in 2020. I didn't envision a worldwide pandemic as being one of those unfortunate circumstances. My view of things have changed somewhat because of this pandemic, however. I am even more optimistic about his chances for winning in November. This is why. My six reasons in the earlier article are still relevant. Number one, those of us who voted for him in 2016 have not lost confidence. We will vote for him again. Two, Trump will pick up additional votes from never Trumper's like my brother and Glen Beck who didn't think he was moral enough or conservative enough to vote for him the first time. Third, Trump will pick up more moderate Democrat votes, or fence sitters who have had a ch...

The Urban Dictionary defines a cavity search as follows. (Similar to a strip search but instead of being searched on the external parts of your body, cavity searches are searches on the inside of your anus canal. It is common when Police Officers or Border Patrol suspect someone of carrying drugs, weapons, or money inside of their bodies.) Donald Trump, to my knowledge, has never experienced a physical cavity search, as described above, but in a figurative way he has had a cavity search every day by the Democrats, the Deep State, and the Democrat controlled media since the day he announced he was a candidate for the office of the president. His butt has to ache by now. He has to be one of the least corrupt men ever to inhabit the office of the presidency. I didn't say the most moral but he is one of the least corrupt. He has to be. Every aspect of his life has been examined and no laws have been broken. Without laughing out loud can we say this about Bill and Hillary Clinton? ...

I was reading an article written by Seth Cohen, a writer for Forbes magazine, which was recounting how Rush Limbaugh was predicting a "veritable" civil war if states do not reopen the economy soon. He was implying that Rush was encouraging a civil war. Since I didn't hear what Rush actually said I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say that I think he was probably taken out of context. I have been a loyal fan of Rush Limbaugh since 1989 and this doesn't sound like him. He has been taken out of context so many times over the years by the left. After all they have tried to blame him and other conservative talk show hosts for the Oklahoma City bombing and mass shootings. This is nothing new. The author of this article goes on to ask the question whether or not we are actually on the verge of a civil war with the recent protests and armed citizens showing up at these protests such as at the Michigan state capital. Of course leftists always have to bring racis...

People my age, that grew up during the Cold War, remember these words being broadcast every Saturday morning for years like clockwork on television and radio. An obnoxious sounding alert signal would sound in order to get your attention and a mans voice would say, " This station is conducting a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. This is only a test. Then you would breathe a sigh of relief and go about your business or wait for the Saturday morning cartoons to come back on. Did you know that on Saturday morning February 20, 1971 a civilian employee working for the Department of Civil Defense deep inside Cheyenne Mountain Colorado accidentally put out the wrong tape? Instead of the test tape he put out a real war warning and it took 40 minutes before anyone could stop it.   The teletyped message from N.O.R.A.D., or North American Air Defense Command, read “Message authenticator: hatefulness, hatefulness". “This is an emergency action notification (EAN) direct...
