THE POSSIBLE END OF DONALD TRUMP
I will probably catch hell from my Conservative friends for what I am going to say but I am all about the truth and some people can't handle the truth. Theodore Roosevelt said that the people would never abandon him as long as he did not abandon the people. Over the last few days Donald Trump has abandoned the people in my view. The people put him into office in spite of the left wing press, the left wing politicians, and the deep state. During all the attempts to destroy Donald Trump based on total lies and trumped up charges we have had his back the entire time. I am very angry with Trump right now. As I am with many so-called Republicans and Conservatives for their idiotic comments they have made and their silence over the past week. Trump missed a golden opportunity this week to show real leadership and he blew it. I was hopeful after his speech on Monday and the photo op but right now they are just words. It may be too late to redeem himself now. His inaction this week might mean his defeat in November. I will still vote for him. What other choice do I have? We have watched as a bunch of Communist revolutionaries and opportunistic thugs have torched our country and Trump fiddles while the nation burns. You might say yeah Greg but those cities are run by socialist mayors and city councils. Or the same thing about the blue state governors who stood by and did nothing. His hands were tied. No, I blame Trump because he did not activate the Insurrection Act of 1807. This act covers all the bases and the law is on his side.
The first provision of the act calls for the president to issue a proclamation ordering the rioters to disperse. Secondly a governor or state legislature can call on the president to send in troops if their state legislature cannot be convened to deal with an insurrection. Third, he can send in troops in any state which makes it impractical to enforce the law. Fourth, he can send in troops to address domestic violence, an unlawful combination or conspiracy, in any state, which results in the deprivation of Constitutionally secured rights, and where the state is unable, fails, or refuses to protect said rights. This last section of the law would definitely apply to states like Minnesota, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania to name a few. Or to cities like Washington D.C., Minneapolis, New York City, Nashville, Boston etc. I don't have a problem with protests but rioting and looting is insurrection. I saw too many people White and Black being killed, beaten, and crying because someone stole everything they had worked for in just a few minutes, along with all the property destruction. Or a Black woman crying because she had nowhere to shop and the buses weren't running. We are already on the verge of a depression and these thugs might have insured it.
I remember the Watts riots of 1965, the Detroit riots of 1967, and the riots after the assassination of Martin Luther King. Lyndon Johnson employed the Insurrection Act of 1807 and put down these riots in a reasonable amount of time. Many presidents have used this law. Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy just to name a few. Some of these presidents used it multiple times. Johnson employed this law during the period when Black people had a real grievance. The Detroit riot of 1967 started on a Sunday night July 23, 1967. The rioting and looting was totally out of control. The mayor of Detroit asked Governor George Romney, Mitt Romney's dad, to send in help. Romney sent in 300 additional state troopers. Later that night he called in the National Guard. On Monday the police and guardsmen were still not able to contain the rioting so Romney asked for President Johnson's help. Johnson diverted 2,000 troops of the 101st Airborne to Detroit who were just returning from Vietnam. They brought tanks and armored personnel carriers with them. By Thursday morning peace was restored. Moral of the story, nobody stood by and did nothing to stop the rioters and looters. More than 7,000 people were arrested and 43 people were killed. A total of 1,700 stores were looted and 1,400 burned. There was fifty million in property damage and 5,000 people were made homeless. I can understand the pent up anger that they had to be feeling but riots during any time hurt the innocent people the most who are caught in the middle of everything. This is the kind of response I was looking for from Trump. A photo op may be too little too late. For the sake of our nation I hope I am wrong.
