SCORCHED EARTH

Image
The Communists might be in disarray right now but their strategy is working in regards to stalling the deportation of illegals. Anyone with a brain knew this was coming even before Trump was elected. This is what they do. They are fighting the deportation of the criminal element now because if they can keep the scumbags from being deported they know that Trump will never get around to deporting the remaining illegals who they are really trying to protect. This is why when these scumbag congressmen are being interviewed and reminded of Abrego Garcia's rap sheet they don't try to defend him. They divert to it is not about an individual it is about the rule of law. Of course they didn't care about the law when these people were illegally crossing the border. No, they need the illegals to vote them into office and provide slave labor to work in their billionaire supporters factories. These courts do not have the constitutional authority to stop Trump's deportation policy. T...

OUR R&R TO ATHENS

Image
On my 21st birthday weekend in 1971 a friend of mine named Mike Cannon and myself took an R&R to Athens Greece from our Detachment in Turkey. We got a hop on an Air Force medivac loaded with critically ill patients on their way to the military hospital in Wiesbaden Germany. I learned to respect the nurses attending to them because they worked their tails off. This was a milk run because it seemed like we picked up patients from every military detachment and base in Turkey on our way to Athens. In Athens we rented a VW Beetle and checked into the hotel Sivilla. Athens is beautiful and we were blessed with great weather while we were there. We drove up and down the coast near Athens, toured the Acropolis and the ancient city of Agora at the base of the Acropolis. It was pretty easy to maintain our sense of direction since the Acropolis was in the center of the city. Growing up in Nashville with our replica of the Parthenon it was pretty neat to get to see the real one although ...

WILL THE DEMOCRAT PARTY SURVIVE?

Image
Old Bill and Hillary Reformed Bill and Hillary The Democrat party has always been the party of death, slavery and repression that can be traced to its formation in 1828 but it's progression towards Communism can be traced back to Woodrow Wilson. Besides being a virulent racist he was the first president to espouse the damnable lie that the Constitution had outlived it's usefulness. In other words it was a living document that was not supposed to be taken literally. Of course if the Constitution was something that could only be interpreted by the anointed educated elites on the left like Wilson that meant that they could enact law out of thin air. The ends always justify the means to accomplish whatever perverted goal that the left sets out to accomplish. This allowed for the abolition of common sense which is the greatest defense against Communism and Fascism.  Franklin Roosevelt, a protege of Woodrow Wilson was able to exploit the crisis of the depression to move us further do...

IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE A CHRISTIAN AND VOTE DEMOCRAT?

Image
Before I address this question I want the reader to understand that I am in no position to judge anyone. I am a very wicked person saved by grace. If I got what I deserved it would be spiritual death but Jesus died so I wouldn't have to suffer that fate. I do want to challenge the thinking of people who profess Christianity but support a political party that has demonstrated monstrous evil over the nearly 200 years of it's existence. I am in no way advocating that people leave the Democrat party and join the Republican party. Republicans can be as evil as the worst Democrats on occasion. Sometimes I think that they are Democrats masquerading as Republicans. I am an independent who votes Republican simply because they are the lesser of two evils. In my view Donald Trump is an independent at heart but identifies as a Republican as the lesser of two evils like myself. Like Reagan he was a former Democrat who switched to the Republican party. Trump is actually a moderate on many is...

CRY BABY

Image
I attended Martha Vaught from the first grade through the 5th. Donna went there from the 1st through the 8th grade. I did the 6th grade at Charlotte Park elementary and Mark started first grade there. I failed the first grade at Martha Vaught because kindergarten wasn't a requirement in the 1950's. Being a momma's boy I would have benefited greatly from kindergarten. I went berserk when my mother dropped me off for the first day of class. I think I cried everyday for the first half of the year..My teacher couldn't handle my crying so she stuck in the cloak room everyday in the dark. I doubt teachers could get away with that today. As a result of being a cry baby I failed the first grade. Mother enrolled me in Summer school at David Lipscomb elementary where I did just fine under a sweet older teacher named Mrs. Glass. I passed and was able to move on to the second grade.

WORKING AT SEGROVES PHARMACY

Image
I was probably about 10 or 11 in this picture working at my dad's drugstore. I started working in the store as soon as I could see above the counter, probably when I was 6 or 7. Of course I never got paid but all my family worked there. That's what you do when your family owns a business. This was good training for me and one reason I have always tried to have a good work ethic and I like to think that I passed it on to my children. Daddy drummed it into me that the customer was always right. Working security has taught me that that is not necessarily so. I believe that good customer service is a two way street but I still believe that it is the primary responsibility of business to go out of their way to please the customer. Good customer service is lacking far too much in modern day society. I swept the floor, dusted the merchandise, cleaned windows and worked behind the cash register. That was the thing that I loved doing the most. One of the funniest things that happene...

SHOT AT WITHOUT RESULT

Image
When I was stationed in eastern Turkey I had a friend named Huseyn Guldur who was a Master Sergeant in the Turkish Air Force. He invited me and a friend to his home in Malatya for dinner one night. We became pretty close and I made several trips to his house during the year I was stationed there. He had a wife and two children. There was a girl of about 11 and her brother was probably 8 years old. We talked and sang some of our songs and he would play traditional Turkish music on a Ute. I had a friend named Garland Atkins from North Carolina who was an excellent guitar player. For that reason we nicknamed him Chet Atkins. Chet wanted to go with me to Huseyn's house one night and we weren't allowed to travel alone off base. I was driving a ragged International Scout which had a top speed of about 50 miles per hour. The motor pool tended to give anyone not traveling on official business the worst vehicles. There was only one road from the base into town. I was driving and as we...

THE HOG

Image
We had pretty poor living conditions when I was stationed in Turkey at Tuslog Detachment 93. The nickname for our Detachment was "The Hog". It was appropriately named. Our barracks was built in WW1 I was told and after a while we became so crowded they allowed us to fix up some old trailers that we named the Hog Hilton. It was very difficult to take a shower. The only time that we had water pressure was late at night after most of the Turkish Airmen had gone to bed. We were an American detachment on a Turkish air base. Many times I would be soaped up and the water would stop. I would then have to wipe the soap off with a towel. Our medic had to put chlorine in our drinking water by hand so we could halfway safely drink the water. I say halfway because I was sick so much from the water that I lost fifty pounds while I was over there. This was before anybody came up with the bright idea to bottle water. For that reason we drank more soft drinks or booze for the guys who drank. ...
