WITH MALICE TOWARD SOME

 Uncle Joe Biden has been running his mouth again. In one of his coherent moments he stated that MAGA supporters and Republicans are the greatest threat facing this country. We have progressed from "deplorables" to terrorists. Labels that I wear with pride while considering the source. There has never been an American president who has used language like this while referring to such a large group of their fellow Americans. American's who make up roughly half of the country. Even when the Democrats brought about the American Civil war they could have easily been labeled as the worst threat facing America but Lincoln chose the high road. As the country was falling apart he sought to unify the nation. You know, that thing the Democrats always promise to do but are incapable of.

 In Lincoln's first inaugural address he said: In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow-countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The Government will not assail you. You can have no conflict without being yourselves the aggressors. You have no oath registered in heaven to destroy the Government, while I shall have the most solemn one to "preserve, protect, and defend it."

I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

After four years of bitter bloodshed and the death of 750,000 American's, incredibly Lincoln was able to say the following words in his 2nd inaugural address just a few weeks before he was murdered by an embittered racist Democrat. 

"With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right let us strive on to finish the work we are in to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan ~ to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations."

 To be fair there were patriotic Democrats during the Civil War that fought as hard as anyone to preserve the Union. Many gave their lives for this country, suffered hideous wounds, and suffered great hardship. Regardless, the Northern Democrat Party was not firmly on board with the war aims of Lincoln. He had a single minded goal to restore the Union. Lincoln was thwarted by the faction of the Democrats called the Copperheads and those who sided with the South. Their actions could justifiably be called traitorous. Some historians have argued that General George McClellan wasn't as incompetent as he appeared. As a Democrat his caution was fueled by a desire to arrive at a negotiated peace with the South rather than see them totally defeated. He ran on the peace platform against Lincoln in 1864. Personally I fall down on the side that argues that he was an incompetent field general. McClellan on the other hand was a great administrator and organizer. 

 Fast forward to 2022. The question is this. Has the Democrat party changed? Yes and no. They are still the party of trying to destroy this country but their constituencies have changed. Before the 1960's they didn't need blacks because they were of no use to them other than to provide them with free and cheap labor. Blacks were also used to race bait poor and illiterate white voters into voting for them at election time. After a handful of Democrats, and the vast majority of Republicans, restored their civil rights and voting rights in the 1960's the Democrats successfully sold black people on the lie that the Republican's were now their oppressors and the Democrats were their friends. As the cultural Communists have gained more and more power within the Democrat party they have molded together a coalition of blacks, Hispanics, homosexuals, radical feminists, and many average patriotic American's who are somehow duped into believing that the Democratic party still represents their interests. I have those kind of Democrats in my extended family and I claim a few friends that think that way. These Democrats are comparable to the Democrats in the Civil War who fought and died for the Union. They are basically good people but misguided like I was at one time. There is nobody on earth that loves America more than I do but unfortunately I was a Democrat until I was in my early 30's. 

When I talk to these Democrats I try to avoid getting into political arguments with them. I can't win and if I allow myself to be drawn into an argument all I get out of it is heartburn and high blood pressure. So, as Lincoln might say I try to appeal to the better angels of their nature. I start out by warning them about how much danger they, and their loved ones are in. If things don't change and we continue down the path that we are on we will face a host of calamities that will be self inflicted and are 100% avoidable. "Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!" "Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes! Volcanoes! "The dead rising from the grave!" "Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats, living together! Mass hysteria!" Well maybe not quite like this description from the movie Ghostbusters but it will be pretty close. 

 We can't fight back, however; unless we know what we are fighting. I tell them that this is not a Republican or Democrat thing but a right and wrong thing. The Democrats weren't Communists in 1861. At least in that area it is not the same party. In two crucial areas, however; the Democrats are still the same. They still want to destroy this country and they still want to enslave us. Now, as then, it is always for the sake of power and wealth. Have you ever noticed how every leader of a Communist country looks fat and healthy but their subjects not so much. I shake my head in wonder sometimes and ask. Why are these people so intent on destroying the closest thing to heaven on earth? That is how I have always seen my country. Even with our flaws. My opinion is verified by the millions streaming across our borders every year. 

 The only answer is a spiritual one and is old as the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. These people act like petty little gods because they believe they are so much smarter than the rest of us. Lincoln said “My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.” These people are definitely not on Gods side. If we stay on Gods side we shall realize the promise of Psalms 37: 10- A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.
