FAIR CATCH CORBY

The Reverend William Corby was a Catholic priest that was born in 1833 and died in 1897. He was a chaplain attached to the famous Union Irish Brigade. He gave complete absolution as the Union troops passed him going into battle on July 2, 1863. The first picture is the one I took of a statue of Corby standing on a rock giving absolution at Gettysburg. Corby later became the President of Notre Dame University and the second picture is the identical statue at Notre Dame. Notre Dame football fans call this statue "fair catch Corby".
